Our eggs are from small flocks of
Isa Brown hens outdoor reared in
the Usk valley. And what eggs!
Only the best ingredients go into the Honest Sausage, which is why all
our sausages and bacon, and now ham, come from free range pork reared on family
farms in the Cotswolds prepared by a local Master Butcher who has a Royal
Warrant from HRH The Prince of Wales.
Our bread is from a wholly organic London baker, our tea is fair trade,
and our coffee, organic ethically traded.
So what of our eggs? Only large eggs from a family run farm in the Usk Valley which
meet strict Soil Association guidelines are good enough.
That means the chickens (they are Isa Browns
by the way), are kept in smaller flocks even by organic standards, in fields
where they can roam freely in and out of the hedgerows. The sheds they use for
roosting and shelter are mobile and regularly moved around the fields so they
can always get a better view (and fresh pastures).
Feed is 100% natural including home grown wheat and barley, no
chemicals, hormones or artificial yolk colourants are used. The farm is
accredited by The Soil Association, The Organic Food Association, RSPCA Freedom
Food, and is a member of The Welsh Free Range and Organic Egg Producers
Association.
This all goes to make happy stress free chickens
which means better eggs, the Honest Egg.
The Honest Sausage, The Broadwalk, Regent’s Park is
open daily from 8.30 am. Breakfast
available until 11.00am.
